I student taught with Mrs. Kirby in 1972...I knew very little about the subject, "child development". She was firm yet kind and passionate about home economics.
My three children had the opportunity to also take home economics in high school... Mostly because of the value she taught me.
It sounds like she had a full life. She taught me a great deal while I was a student teacher.
I remember when Jana had her serious car accident....
She said that she needed to sit about 20" once she got home to reenergize....I get it.
Oddly I ran into someone in the last few months, and I had asked about her, not realizing she was permanently in Florida from Northport.

Mrs. Kirby was my favorite teacher in high school wish there were more teachers like her.

The moment I saw Mrs. Kirby's name w/out a picture, I knew it was one of my very favorite teachers, actually the favorite teacher. Even after graduating from TCHS, I revisited her. She was a lovely lady and I soooo enjoyed her classes and the visits after. May she rest in peace. Prayers for her family. Love 💘 Shelly
