Rev. W. Larry Buckman, Jr.
The Rev. W. Larry Buckman left this earth to be with his Loving Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Saturday January 16, 2021. He was born July 25, 1947 to his missionary parents, Winfield and Francis Buckman, in the remote village of Cuiabá, Brazil. A graduate of Philadelphia College of the Bible in 1971, where he met his wife Fay and they were married August 8, 1970. He continued his education at Columbia College earning his Masters degree in 1973 for Documentary Cinematography and Photography. It was during this time along with his wife Fay Buckman when they answered God’s call on their lives to follow Him to the mission fields of Ecuador, Honduras, and Brazil where they mosaically served the Lord in a brilliantly, multi-colored work of art which displayed the Gospel of Christ through many different areas of service. His ministry was like Joseph’s coat of many colors, each project he was involved in was unique, brilliant, and colorfully fragrant to the Lord; and God’s favor rested on Larry with everything he put his hand to. He was known by his colleagues as the “Indiana Jones of missionaries”, always saying “yes” to God’s call and living his life knowing that all things are possible through Christ who gives us strength. Larry was an amazing husband and left behind his wife of fifty years whom he loved with a committed intensity that was evident to all who knew them. He was the best dad a boy could ask for, always making sure to take time out of his busy missionary schedule and embarked on many crazy and exhilarating adventures with his two sons Nate and Ben. Each son married the bride God chose for them and Larry loved and cherished them as his own daughters. Janelle (Nate) and Kristiana (Ben) He loved each one of his grandchildren and was careful to spend time with them individually speaking life into their hearts as he fanned into flame the gifts and talents bestowed upon them by their Creator. Ashlee, Kelly, Skyler, Kaelan, Felicity, Tiffany (Nate & Janelle), Oliver, Boaz, Maeve, Giulia, Alice (Ben & Kristiana) They have all been inspired by their Grandpa Buck and will miss him dearly. Surviving also are Larry’s brother-in-law and sister Bill and Sue Cristobal and their children along with his “adoptive family”, the Keeners, in Pennsylvania.
