William Joseph Robinson V “Bill” died on May 31, 2022 at the age of 92. He was born January
21, 1930 in Manhattan, NY to Dorothy M. and William J. Robinson IV. Shortly after his birth,
they moved to College Point, NY where he resided for more than 40 years.
In January of 1951 Bill elected to interrupt college and enlist in the Navy. He spent most of the
next four years in the Pacific serving as an electronics technician and radioman aboard the USS
Salisbury Sound. While on leave at Christmas time in 1951 he became engaged to Jean C.
McCabe and they were married in June of 1953.
In December of 1954, after his discharge from the Navy, Jean and Bill began a life together. Bill
returned to college, obtained his BA from Queens College in 1956 and starte a career in sales
with Procter and Gamble. He continued his education and obtained his MBA from NYU while
working full time for P & G, from which he retired 35 years later. In 1972 he was transferred to
Lakeland, FL, where he lived until 2020, when he moved to Merritt Island.
Bill was preceded in death by Jean, in 2010. He is survived by his sons William J. Robinson VI
of Big Stone Gap, VA and Lawrence G. Robinson (Jane) of Merritt Island, FL, three
grandchildren: Lila Jean, Frederick (Stephanie), Matthew “Ben” and one great granddaughter,
Chloe.
Bill was energetic and enjoyed life. He spent countless hours volunteering for St. Fidelis
Catholic Church and School and for St. Vincent de Paul. He enjoyed cooking, fishing,
woodworking, reading and spending time with and for his family. He was outgoing and always
ready to laugh. He remained remarkably positive throughout his life. He will be greatly missed
by all who knew him.
The Memorial Mass will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rockledge, FL on Friday June 17 at 2:30 PM, with a Celebration of Life to follow at The Black Tulip Restaurant in Cocoa Village from 4-6 PM.
