WILLIAM VARGAS

William Vargas, 87, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2023 at his home. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Anserma, Colombia, he was the son of Rafael and Josefa Vargas. William graduated medical school from La Universidad de Caldas in Colombia. He completed his residency in Anesthesia at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. In 1971, William moved his family to Lakeland where he worked at Lakeland Regional Hospital for over 20 years. He then worked at Pain Medicine Inc. for 25 more years.

William belonged to Resurrection Catholic Church. He was an avid reader and loved listening to classical music. His favorite pastime was to spend time with his family and to travel together with them. He often could be found stopping by church for a visit. He is most remembered for his selflessness and generosity.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Adiela; his children, Cesar (Beth), Ana (Andrew); his grandchildren, Adriana (Tyler), Julia and Liam; his brother, Jairo (Esperanza); and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held in Lakeland on Thursday March 9, 2023 at Resurrection Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m.
