Viola K Glass

Viola ”Kathy” Kathryn Glass, (80), went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 22, 2024, from COPD at Valencia Hills Health & Rehab Center in Lakeland Florida.

Kathy was born in Toledo, Ohio, to John Kelly Appling and Flora Georgie Danner. She graduated early from Waite High School where she was an accomplished synchronized swimmer and sang in the chorus. After graduation, she became a proud Marine.

She enjoyed cake decorating, singing as part of a trio at Oakdale United Methodist Church and crocheting. In 1977, she moved to Lakeland, Florida, where she continued baking cakes and retired from Martin-Lockheed where she was an accounting clerk/auditor.

She is survived by her daughters Reyna M Kassman (Jimmy) of Lakeland FL, Rebecca Shorette of St Petersburg FL, Mary Wooley (Bryan) of Wildwood FL, and Ronni Rivera of Iron Station NC; grandchildren, Brandi McKay, Jennifer Arnold (Stephen), Joshua Glass, Paige Wooley, Amanda Crawn (Hazelton) and Candace Kassman; 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; siblings Robert Rawlings of California, Clarann Boczan of Ohio and George Appling of Manitoba Canada, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and her best friend of over 70 years, Charline Gray. She is predeceased by her parents, 9 brothers and 8 sisters.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 4, 2024, at 4pm with interment at Lakeland Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens at a later date. The visitation will be held from 3-4 prior to the Celebration of Life.
