Thomas Allen Davis

Thomas "Tom" Allen Davis, 69, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023, in Lakeland, FL. A lifelong resident of Lakeland, he was born on February 20, 1954, to parents Alice and William J. Davis and was a 1972 graduate of Lakeland High School. He retired from the phosphate industry in 2017 after working 44 years for Mosaic (formerly IMC).

Tom married his first wife, Diane Davis, in 1981 and was a devoted caretaker during her cancer treatment until her death in 1997. Together they had two daughters, Laura and Tracy.

In 2004, he married Barbara Davis on the beach at Anna Maria Island, where they enjoyed spending time relaxing, fishing and boating.

Tom was a Christian, a talented musician, an amazing cook, a great storyteller, a lover of nature and wildlife and a true character. He loved bluegrass music, boating and fishing, weekly dinner at Fred's Market with his daughter, Tracy, and grandson, Peco, and talking daughter Laura's ear off on the phone. He will be remembered fondly for his happy smile, hard work and slick sense of humor.

Tom is survived and will be missed by his wife, Barbara Davis; daughters, Laura Davis and Tracy Davis; stepsons, Matt Hayles (Brittany), Adam Porter and Dave Porter (Mary Lauren); sister, Melany Nichols; brother, William "Bo" Davis; and many others, including grandkids, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane Davis, his parents, Alice and William J. Davis and sister, Gayle Chastain.

A visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m., on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Lakeland Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, with a graveside service to follow.
