Sharon JoAnn Yeater (née Cearfoss), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully on May 29, 2023, in Lakeland, Florida. Born on August 24, 1946, in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, Sherry left a lasting legacy of unwavering faith, remarkable service, and deeply loved her husband and family throughout her 55 years of marriage with Ronald E Yeater.
Preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Marilyn Cearfoss (Barkey), Sherry is survived by her husband, Ron, her sisters Lana Rodgers (Tom, deceased), Judy Lieske (Mike), Grace Jones (Daniel), and her brother Jeffery Cearfoss (Lynette).
She is fondly remembered by her three children, Jodi Lynn Jones (Timothy) of Lakeland, Florida; Joel Andrew Yeater (Brenda) of St. Petersburg, Florida; and Jaron Wayne Yeater of Lakeland, Florida; her 11 grandchildren, Caleb of Celebration, Abigail of Nashville, Andrew (Taylor) of St. Petersburg, Jacob of Lakeland, Austin of St. Petersburg, Aaron, Josiah, Addison, Rebekah, Elizabeth, and Esther. She was recently blessed with the birth of her great-granddaughter, Lily.
Sherry and Ron shared a beautiful lifelong partnership, serving their Lord for over 45 years in active ministry marking a testimony of their enduring faith and dedication to service. Their mission work began in 1969 in Niger, West Africa where they both taught children of missionaries. They were then called to church planting in 1971 and served the Lord in Moncton, NB Canada for 15 years. In 1986, the Lord brought them to Polk City, Florida where they continued to preach and teach the gospel to children at Camp Gilead until they retired in 2014 and moved to Lakeland, Florida.
An accomplished educator, Sherry graduated from Cedarville University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1969. She later took her passion for education to Lakeland Christian School in 1990, where she taught for 15 years until 2006.
Sherry was known for her fondness for singing, playing the piano, organ, baking, and crafts. Her radiant smile and spirited enthusiasm for sharing the word of Jesus Christ touched everyone she met. Even when diagnosed with rheumatoid and osteoarthritis in 2003, her faith and positivity remained undeterred.
Services will be held on Friday, June 2nd, at Lakeland Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 2125 Bartow Road, Lakeland, Florida 33801. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM, with a service to follow at 2 PM.

Sherry’s life was a testament to her deep faith, steadfast love for her family, and her commitment to education. She will be dearly missed, and her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
