Roy W. Bodemer, 82, of Polk City, Florida passed away Saturday, July 11, 2020 at home after a lengthy illness. Roy was born in Chicago, Illinois to Roy R. Bodemer and Hilda Neuhaus Bodemer. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Sue Brabson Bodemer, his daughters Tracy Martin (James Keller) of Florida and Keri O'Connell (Patrick) of Ohio. He was Pappy to four grandchildren, Olivia Fitzgerald (Kyle), Mallory Truesdell (Cody), Kyle O'Connell (Emily) and Dan O'Connell. Also survived by three great grandchildren and his sister Carol Bodemer Guenther (Robert).
Roy attended Madeira High School and The University of Cincinnati. He retired from Ohio Truck Equipment in 2002 relocating to South Carolina and later to Florida. Roy loved life and he loved people, enjoying many hobbies including art and music. He loved most sports especially baseball and soccer. He was very involved in developing the youth soccer program in Milford, Ohio plus he coached for many years. Roy's faith led him to be very active in Trinity UMC in Milford. He was a Mason, a Shriner and a Hillbilly Shriner where he was Raban of the Clan, constantly raising funds for the Cincinnati Burns Hospital. In later years Roy enjoyed traveling, exploring this great country with his four grandchildren. Interment will be at Bushnell National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida at an undetermined date. Memorials can be sent to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
