Resurreccion "Cherry" Acosta Santos

Resurreccion “Cherry” Santos, 66, of Lakeland, passed away March 8, 2019, with her family by her side. She was born to the late Rosalina Felisco and Maximo Acosta, April 13, 1952 in Quezon City, Philippines. Cherry received her BS in 1973 from the University of the Philippines in Manila, earned her medical degree in 1977 from the University of the Philippines in Manila, and completed a residency in Obstetrics-Gynecology in 1980 at Philippine General Hospital. After moving to the United States, she completed a residency in Family Medicine in 1994 at In His Image in Tulsa, OK. Cherry married Medardo Queg Santos in 1983. Cherry is survived by her husband and their three children: Charlene (Jason) Finney of Atlanta, GA; Michelle (Aaron) Santos Odle of St. Louis, MO; and Rachel (Andrew) Cochrum of Orlando, FL. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Rowan Santos Odle (4), Sloan Santos Finney (3), Maya Quintina Santos Odle (1), and Soren Santos Finney (8 mo.). Cherry was a compassionate physician, having practiced for nearly 40 years with expertise, integrity, and care for her patients and colleagues. She pursued beauty wholeheartedly, as demonstrated in her love for art, poetry, travel, and gardening. She made the Lord her greatest delight, seeking strength and cultivating wisdom daily in His Word. Cherry was a devoted wife, attentive mother, accepting mother-in-law, and proud nanang (grandmother). She was committed to a life of faithfulness to Christ, no matter the cost. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home. There will be a visitation with the family present immediately following the service.
