Raymond Frank Goodwin, Jr. was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 19, 1945 to the late Raymond Frank Goodwin Sr. and Dorothy Pierce – Goodwin from Cofield, NC. From this union they had one child, Raymond. He peacefully passed away in his home on July 10, 2022 at the age of 76.

Raymond was raised in Moorestown, NJ and Graduated from Moorestown High School. He attended the University of Delaware for a short time then being drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies Baseball team as a Pitcher. He played for the Phillies from 1964 to 1966 at which time he left the team due to an injury. During this time Raymond meets and married Jacqueline Godett in 1965. From this union they had two daughters, Crystal and Cylenea.

He worked for the Department of Social Services in Camden, NJ for over 20 years. When he retired he wanted to be close to the ports where the ships went out from because of his Love for cruising so he moved to Lakeland, Florida.

Raymond remarried in October 1991 to his wife Dr. Ismenia Ramos –Goodwin who was at his side Loving and Caring for him.

Ray was a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. He loved playing softball and watching western movies. He was an all-out sports fan. After retiring and moving to Florida one of his biggest joys was making and drinking coffee with his neighbors before they went off to work. He also loved Volunteering at the Food Bank and spending time campaigning for the Democratic Party.

Raymond was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Frank Goodwin Sr. and his mother, Dorothy Pierce- Goodwin. He leaves to cherish his memories, His Devoted Wife Dr. Ismenia-Ramos Goodwin; his daughters, Crystal Goodwin-Tucker and Cylenea Goodwin-Ferguson; one Son-In-Law, Gregory Tucker; He was a proud grandfather of two grandchildren; Blake Carrington-Barnes and Ashleigh Renee’ Ferguson, and a host of family and close friends.

Raymond, Ismenia and their family are so Very Thankful for the help and support of Good Shepherd Hospice care that was given to him.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 9am, followed by a graveside service at 10am, on Friday, July 22, 2022, at Lakeland Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens.
