Lakeland - Pronob Bhattacharjee was born on September 11, 1937 in Kolkata, India, and died on August 3, 2019, in Lakeland, FL at the age of 81.
Pronob graduated from St. Xavier’s College with a degree in mathematics and from Jadavpur University with a degree in chemical engineering. He enjoyed traveling, reading, and music as well as dancing and Indian culture. He possessed an avid love of gardening and often spent time amongst his beloved papaya, mango and lichi trees. On a more intellectual note, his passions were physics, chemistry, and the Hindu scriptures. His most important priority was his family. He had an incredibly generous spirit and an open mind to any stranger who crossed his doorstep.
Pronob will always be remembered for his vibrant spiritual energy, his passion for education, and his love of adventure. He traveled the world for professional purposes, but he deeply enjoyed the enriching experience of absorbing other cultures. On a more scientific basis, he had a keen interest in the future of our carbon footprint.
He was the beloved husband of Sheila Bhattacharjee; loving father of Madhumita Banerji and Dhiman Bhattacharjee; loving grandfather of Neil and Nirav Banerji, and Hanna Bhattacharjee.
