O'Jean W. Payne

O’Jean William Payne, 93, passed away on Friday, January 14th 2022, at his home in Lakeland, Florida.

O’Jean was born June 3rd, 1928 in Madison, Florida to Ouida Belle Evans Payne & George William Payne. He moved to Lakeland in 1946 and started his career with Sunbeam/Country Hearth Bakery. O’Jean was a United States Army Veteran and served in Korea in 1953. After returning home in 1955 he continued his career at the bakery. He then met and married his wife Dorothy Ann Middleton Payne and they had 2 children. O’Jean retired from the bakery after 44 years. Ann & O’Jean celebrated 64 years of marriage this past July.

Mr. Payne is survived by his wife, Ann Payne, son Ronald Payne, daughter Sheri Payne Thornton (Steve) and 6 grandchildren, Joshua Payne, Rachel Payne Smith, Stephan Thornton, Christian Thornton, Kristopher Payne, Cameron Thornton, and 2 great grandchildren, Christian Smith and Emersyn Ann Thornton.
