Mildred A. Terry

Mildred Terry went to be with her Savior and Lord on Thursday, September 15, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born 11-25-28 in Rockford, TN to Reverend Albert and Minnie McKinley. Her siblings included Hazel Brewer, Mabel Varner, Helen Odell, Thelma Gilbert, Paul McKinley, and Carolyn Beverly. She married George W. Terry (deceased 2/8/12) on 11-15-48 in Chatsworth, GA.

Her children include Eddie Terry (Laura), Donna Brooks (Rick), Doctor Marvin Terry, and Karen Hudson (Robert). Sons Daryl and David died in infancy. She has 15 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.

Mildred retired from Ross of Florida after 44 years of employment. She had also been a part-time saleswoman. She was a faithful member of Trinity Life (West Lakeland) Church of God, since 1956, after moving to Lakeland from Rockford, TN. You could count on her occupying the same pew each and every Sunday morning and night, as well as Wednesday evenings.

Mildred was a strong Christian woman and was involved in teaching Sunday school classes from the age of 14, which continued until after her retirement. She was also involved in bus ministries, hospital and nursing home visitation, and was a choir member, also sang in special musical groups.

She was an accomplished poet and was known and loved by family and friends who were recipients of her poetry, which was included in every single greeting card sent. One of her favorite pastimes, Facebook, enabled her to keep up with extended family and friends, sending Bible scriptures to encourage her faith family and those she hoped would soon be.

Without a doubt, if she could speak now she would tell you of the love of her Savior and encourage you to make him the Lord of your life.

Family will receive friends Saturday, 09/24/2022 at 10am. Services will be held on Saturday, 09/24/2022 at 11am at Trinity Life Church of God, 1942 W. Memorial Boulevard, Lakeland, FL, followed by Interment at Oakhill Cemetery.
