Marion Avis Tokarz, age 84, of Lakeland, went home to be with her Savior on Friday, July 23rd, 2021. Marion is survived by her husband of 64 years, James Tokarz; her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Keith Kettwich; her grandchildren Michael and Madeline; and her sister, Sibyl Crossman.
Marion was born and raised in Canada where she attended Alma college, fell in love and married, worked, and gave birth to her daughter. The little family decided to make a life in New York, eventually moving to Lakeland, Florida to start a new business where Marion managed the home office. She was a dedicated wife, devoted mother, and delighted grandmother.
Marion expressed her creativity as a poet and by her talent for making things beautiful, both in her surroundings and through thoughtful hospitality and gifts to others.
Marion was characterized by her love for Christ and the Bible, and her desire that everyone understand the truth of John 3:16. Alongside Jim, she was engaged with church family and ministries including teaching Sunday School, working with college kids, and mentoring. Marion and Jim were passionate about missions, with a heart for missionaries and those who minister. They dedicated much in their lives to helping and encouraging those who serve. Long-term battles with chronic illness which became increasingly debilitating could not shake Marion’s faith. Instead, she became a prayer warrior, and claimed the Scripture verse Philippians 4:13.
The lives scattered around the globe she touched with the hope within her, the spiritual heritage passed down to and embraced by her daughter and grandchildren, a marriage commitment of sixty-four years – these things are Marion’s legacy.
