Marie J. Janos

Marie Jeannette Janos, born November 19, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, January 27, 2020. She was 88 years old.

Marie was married to Edward Joseph Janos in Detroit, Michigan on July 2, 1949. They were married 55 years. Edward passed away May 22,2004 in Lakeland, Florida. Marie was the only child of and is also preceded in death by her father, Sam Sadaris, (Athens, Greece) and mother Marie Ida Houde-Novak (Montreal, Canada).

Together Marie and Edward raised three beloved children. Daughter, Cynthia Ann Janos-Hudgens, who passed away at the age of 66, on December 28, 2017, Fraser, Michigan, her spouse, (Noel Hudgens.) Son, Edward Gerard Janos, of Denver, Colorado, (Kristin Stroud). Granddaughter, Nicole Janos Sonnenberg, (Mark Sonnenberg) of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, great grandchildren, Joshua, Leah and Anna Sonnenberg. Granddaughter, Allison Janos, Sterling Heights, Michigan, great grandchildren, Amanda and Gabriel. Daughter Carolyn Marie Janos-Blake (Charles Blake Jr.) of Lake Mary, Florida, grandchildren, Chaz, Brandon, Dylan, Christopher and Brianna.

Marie had a great passion for caring for loved ones. She always offered and gave the best advice  to anyone who asked or needed it. She showed love and compassion on a daily basis. She showed her family how to be strong, kind and caring for whatever life threw their way. She was very giving, compassionate, understanding, strong, and taught all who were around her the same values. She was loved and respected by all that were lucky enough to know her. Marie was a very devoted Catholic, and was always close to God. She prayed and used her rosary daily.

Marie graduated from St Mary’s Commercial High School in Detroit, Michigan. After that she became a Legal Secretary. Her real passion though was a profession in the beauty industry. Marie went on to beauty school as she was raising her three children,  after graduating beauty school, she then became an Instructor at the Michigan College of Beauty in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. She then went on to own and operate her own successful business, E’Janos Salon of Beauty, in Warren, Michigan. After many years, she sold her business and went to work at South Macomb Hospital in Warren, Michigan in the Admissions Department, where from there she retired at the age of 56. She and Edward enjoyed their retirement years splitting their time in Clinton Township, Michigan, Lexington, Michigan and their winter home in Lakeland, Florida. Marie and Edward enjoyed leisurely world traveling.  Marie especially loved Greece, her father’s homeland, and all of its traditions, music and cuisine which she passed to her children and grandchildren.

Marie also was an amazing crafter and could always  be found either oil painting, crocheting,  knitting, cross stitching or working with ceramics in her spare time.  All she touched turned into stunning works of art. Marie loved cooking, dancing, reading, playing board games, Bingo and playing cards with family and friends. She also had a great love for animals.

Marie began her battle with Alzheimer’s starting in 2012 as well as reoccurring cancer in 2018.  In spite of her illnesses she remained one of the most loving people that you would ever know.
Marie’s legacy will forever be carried on throughout the lives that she left behind.

Viewing and services will be held on Monday, February 3, 2020, at 10 AM at Lakeland Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 2125 Bartow Road Lakeland, Florida 33801.
