Malachi Ulric Goare Jr., died on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Valencia Hills Nursing Home. He was born July 10, 1926 in Flint, Georgia. Mr. Goare was a World War II Navy veteran who fought at Normandy. Mr. Goare was a business owner contracting with several major railroads. He retired from Eastman Kodak Railroad in Longview, Texas in 1993.
He is preceded in death by his son Robin Gene Goare. Surviving is his wife of 65 years Elizabeth Smith Goare; daughter Madelene Horton and her husband Randy of Lakeland, FL; granddaughters Rhea Marshall and husband Buck of Ennis, TX, Rebekah Franklin and husband Aaron of Ooltewah, TN; grandsons Ryan Horton and wife Ida, Derek Goare and wife Jackie, Caleb Goare and wife Dierdra, all of Lakeland, FL. He also has 8 great grandchildren: Caroline, Landon, Jonathan, Dalton, Ava, Hannah Kate, Christine and Bao.
A visitation will be held Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Lakeland Funeral Home from 4-6PM with a funeral service at 6PM. Interment in the Smith Family Cemetery in Jacksonville will be Saturday at 11AM.
