MICHAEL PATRICK REED

Michael Patrick Reed, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away on
November 9th, 2023, at the age of 71 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Lakeland, Florida. Mike was the
loving husband of Christine Reed. They shared 35 wonderful years together.
 
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Mike was the son of Frank and Helen Reed. After graduating from Lane Tech
High School (Chicago) in 1970, he proudly served as a sergeant in the United States Air Force and went
on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from Elmhurst College in Illinois.
 
Mike dedicated his career to State Farm Insurance, where he worked for 36 years before retiring. Beyond
his professional accomplishments, Mike was a man of many passions. He enjoyed reading, writing,
listening to music, volunteering at local animal shelters, spending time outdoors, and most importantly,
cherishing moments with his family.
 
Mike's kind, lighthearted, and funny nature left an indelible mark on those who knew him. His ability to bring a smile to anyone's face was a testament to his warm and compassionate spirit.
 
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Christine Reed; daughter, Kate Pazda (Michael Pazda); stepsons,
Eric Johnson (Riley Johnson) and Philip Johnson, and five grandchildren, Aubrey, Amelia, Fuller, Olivia
and Ezra; sisters Lynda Harman and Kathy Reed; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He was
predeceased by his father, Frank Reed, his mother, Helen Reed, and his nephew, Roy Warner.
A memorial will be held on December 22, 2023 at 11:30am at Bushnell National Cemetery to honor
Mike’s life and cherish the memories he created. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be
made to Alzheimer's Association, Good Shepherd Hospice of Lakeland, or Local Animal Shelter. Mike's absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, humor, and unwavering
support will forever be remembered. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will
continue to cherish the moments they shared with him.
