Lynn Charlayne Mathewson

Lynn C. Mathewson, 79, of Lakeland, passed away on Wednesday December 15, 2021. She was born in Lexington, NC on August 1, 1942 to Cecil and Mildred Bowen.

Lynn was a member of the Sweet Adeline’s Barbershop for many years. She worked as an LPN for 42 years. Lynn loved to go cruising with her family. Together they sailed on 30+ cruises. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, and loved going to the casinos.

Lynn is preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Mildred Bowen, and her brother Mickey Bowen.

She is survived by her husband of 62 ½ years, George Mathewson; children Jeff (Brenda) Mathewson, Tony (Tina) Mathewson, and Deb (Candi) Mathewson; grandchildren Daniel, Taasha, Jeff, Trey, Gina, Tanner, Tate, and Charley; great-grandchildren Chase, Korbin, Ryder, Kierce, Kinsley, Jacob, Olivia, and Merrick; sister Cecilia Smith; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Lakeland Funeral Home. Visitation from 1 PM – 2 PM, service at 2 PM.

In Lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
