Lavon J. Whitaker, 91, of Lakeland, passed away on Wednesday September 22, 2021. She was born on July 2, 1930 in Redland, GA to William and Ivon Jackson.
Lavon and her late husband, Ed Whitaker, were married for 35 years. They lived in Hialeah for many years. Ed worked for Pam Am World Airways, and Lavon worked as a Recording Secretary at the Airport 1st State Bank. They were members of Hialeah Assembly of God, where Lavon held many church jobs. Lavon and Sister Cutts taught 9-11 years old girls at Junior church Sunday school. She volunteered at a nursing home after prayer on Wednesdays, and would go door to door after Personal Evangelism to spread the word of God. They moved from Hialeah to Lakeland in 1976, when Ed took early retirement.
Lavon is preceded in death by her husband Ed Whitaker, brothers John F. Jackson and Roy Gene Jackson.
She is survived by her siblings Wayne E. Jackson, James Vernon Jackson, Wyman Jackson, Norman Jackson, Brenda Wasden, Maudine Hutton, and Reba Amee.
Services will be held at Lakeland Funeral home on Wednesday September 29, 2021. Visitation from 10-11 AM, service at 11 AM. Burial to follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery
