Jude M. Wheeler, Age 80. Passed away 8/25/21 in Cleveland OH. Beloved husband of Linda, dear father of David(deceased)(Annette), Carrie Cully (Scott) and Cathie (Jill); grandfather of Bradley and Thomas Rodgers, Emily and Sophia Wheeler, great grandfather of Wyatt, Raquel and Owen; brother of Mary McNeil, Jim (Judy) and Joy Jahnke(deceased).
US Navy Veteran, Police Officer, Building Contractor, Boat Captain, Owner of Lake Wire Retirement Center (192-2014), Inventor. He won a gold medal in Washington DC at the Inventors Expo 1986 for his patented invention of the Wheeler Walker. A man of extraordinary talents. There was nothing he couldn’t do or fix from upholstery work to aircraft maintenance, always working from a written “list”.
He and his wife spent 6 years (1998-2004) sailing from San Francisco to Tampa via the Panama Canal aboard their 36’ sailboat, making lifelong friends in every Central American Country along the way and also the cruising community of sailors.
He loved riding motorcycles with his “Geezer” friends, working in his shop, vacationing in his RV. He very much enjoyed eating daily breakfasts in the company of longtime Lakeland friends. He loved life and was interested in everything and everyone. Always curious, always laughing.
Funeral Service will be at Lakeland Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Saturday September 4, 2021. Visitation 10am – 12pm followed by service. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
