John W. Lenhart III

It is with great sadness that the family of John William Lenhart III announces his passing on June 30, 2018 at the age of 70. He will be sorely missed by his wife of 47 years, Milly Puterbaugh Lenhart, his two daughters Liz Mongiello and Sarah Lenhart, his son in law Stephan Mongiello and his sister Arlene Wagner.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday August 12, 2018 at 2pm at Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 S Bartow Rd, Lakeland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to give.moffitt.org Refreshments will be served after the service at College Heights United Methodist Church, 942 South Blvd, Lakeland.

There will be a graveside service Saturday August 18, 2018 at 2pm at Union Cemetery, 5442 Somers Point Rd, Mays Landing, NJ.

John was born in New Brunswick, NJ on December 28, 1947. He graduated in 1965 from Edison HS. He graduated from Newark College of Engineering (now New Jersey Institute of Technology) in 1971. He worked his entire career as an engineer for New Jersey Bell. He also served in the National Guard (Army). He was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of College Heights UMC in Lakeland. He spent time each summer for 66 years on Flying Pond in Mount Vernon, Maine.

John was a man of many interests. He loved any kind of baseball but especially the Yankees. He was a fan, an umpire and a coach. He loved traveling, his grand dogs, bridge, “big ball” and Candlepin bowling, trap shooting, music, live theater, canoeing, boating, convertibles and trucks. He was a talented jack of all trades and loved his “projects.”

John was a devoted family man and loved his family deeply. He was a man of integrity and would do anything for his family. He was a great provider, planner and role model. He was always trying to figure out how he could make his loved ones’ lives better. We will carry John in our hearts forever.
