John Keith Croy of Lakeland Florida passed away Wednesday evening, August 25,2021 at Brandon regional Hospital. He was 70 years old.
Born in Princeton, West Virginia on November 11, 1950, he is the son of Robert Dawson Croy Jr. and his wife, Alice Irene Croy (Rose). He is preceded in death by both parents, as well as his wife, Sandra Kay Croy (Jones), also of Princeton.
John is survived by his son Zachary, his daughter in law Tina, and his grandchildren, Jonathan, Anna Marie, Adam, and Brandy. His sisters, Elaine (Crawford) Connor, and Sherry Croy, both of Winter Haven Florida also survive him.
John was a former public school teacher and until recently a bus driver for Polk County schools, and took great pride in his career as a mentor and educator. He also had a lifelong love of art, and his family will long cherish his paintings. Known as “Grandaddy” to his grandchildren and “Johnny” to his friends and family, he was always ready with a joke and a smile to greet his students and amuse his family.
A graveside service will be held honoring John’s life on Tuesday September 7, at 10AM, at the Lakeland Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens.
