James Thorne Arnold, 77
Jim Arnold passed away on May 24, 2018. Born in Atlanta, Georgia he was the son of the late Robert Thorne Arnold and Myra Nell Rosser Arnold.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Arnold and daughters, Elizabeth (Beth) Arnold and Rebecca Lynn (Becky) Richards, Diana Nix McCann (Robert) and Wendy Nix Morris (Matthew), six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Robert H. (Bobby) Arnold (Linda) and sister, Sheran Ann Rivers (Harrison).
Jim was a Christian who loved family, his work and his hobbies, fishing, hunting and scuba diving. At the age of 2 years Jim’s family moved to Mulberry, Florida where he had a wonderful childhood. At age 16 the family moved to Brandon, Florida when his father became postmaster. Jim graduated from Brandon High School. He was the starting right guard on the Brandon 1957/1958 football team that won 19 straight games.
After graduation from the University of Florida with a Master’s Degree in Forestry, he worked for 40 years in various phases of the forest industry. He retired in 2004 from his job as superintendent of wood yards at the International Paper Company Cantonment Mill in Pensacola, Florida.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at 10 a.m., at Lakeland Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens.
