LAKELAND - Mr. Jackie Walden Keen, (83), of Lakeland FL, died Tuesday (August 14, 2018) at Lakeland Regional Health after a long-time battle with cancer and many other health issues.
He was born in Lakeland, FL on October 27, 1934. He worked for the ACL/SCL/SBD/ CSX railroads for 41 years, retiring in December 1996.
Mr. Keen was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Karen; parents, Julius & Gertrude Keen; sisters, Mildred Wright & Eloise Ashton; brother, Leon Keen; and grandson, Jonathan Faulkner. He is survived by his brother, Billy Keen; sister, Sandra Kay Saunders (Ripp); sister-in-law, Mary Keen; children, Deborah Doolin (Bill), David Keen (Ruth), Daniel Keen (Debra), Kerry Keen (Beth Ann) and Dawna Curry; grandchildren, Danielle (Michael), Melissa (Calep), Timothy, DJ, Jesse, Justin, Jini, Brian & Sarah; great grandchildren, Tyler & Allison; and his beloved beagle, Blondie.
He was a member New Home Baptist Church, the Kathleen Masonic Lodge No. 338, the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, the Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels & the Georgia Hunting Club. Jackie was a 1955 graduate of Kathleen Strawberry School. He served as the Worshipful Master of the Kathleen Masonic Lodge in 2004 & 2007, and as District Deputy Grand Master of the 24th Masonic District in 2008.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 21st from 4-8PM at the Lakeland Funeral Home. Services will be on Wednesday, August 22nd at 10AM at New Home Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kathleen Masonic Lodge No. 338 for the Christmas Basket Charity Program, PO Box 378, Kathleen, FL, 33849.
