Tribute

BOYLES, Iris Fraser, age 93, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Wedgewood Healthcare Center due to natural causes.

Iris Fraser was born October 7, 1927, in Lakeland. After graduating Florida Southern College, she pursued mission work in Tampa. She later moved to Atlanta, and in 1957 began her work at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was Financial Secretary and church member for 34 years.

Through a friend, she met her future husband, Colman Boyles, at a square dance, and on June 6, 1970, they were married at Glenn Memorial and resided in Metro Atlanta until 1997, when she, along with Colman, moved back to Lakeland.
Her church membership was at College Heights United Methodist Church.

Besides her close ties to the church and avid pursuit of her family’s history, Iris loved baseball and ‘her’ Atlanta Braves! She was also known for her love of cats.
Along with her considerable collection of figurines, she loved many domestic cats through the years.

Iris was predeceased by her husband, Colman, his son, Tommy Boyles; her five siblings: Richard, Arnold and Milton Fraser, Joyce Fraser Lewis and Barbara Fraser Furtado; her nephew, Warren Fraser.

She is survived by Colman’s daughters, Debbie Sisson, Vicki L. Woodall (Woody) and Fay Boyles; his grandchildren, Joshua, Heather and Lonnie.

Iris is also survived by her sister-in-law Joyce Bennett Fraser; cousins Elsie Cullison Ruiz, Elizabeth Burgess and Elaine Burgess Nuckolls (Joe); nephews Larry (Gloria), Lee and Dennis Fraser (Debbie), Joe and James Furtado (Shayne), Steven, Sam (Donna) and Donald Fraser, Cliff (Tanga) and Earle Lewis and John Dorris; nieces Elizabeth Fraser May (Randy), Carol Furtado Crosson (David), Barbara Furtado Riley (Tim), Renee Fraser McQuien and Genise Fraser; their descendants.
