Hermila M. Rabe was born in Villasis, Pangasinan, Philippines on January 13, 1932. For many years, she resided in New York, NY. After a long illness, she was called home to our Lord on April 4, 2019 in Lakeland, FL.
Hermila was one of ten children-seven of which preceded her in death. She remembered fondly by living relatives including her son Odelon M. Rabe (Amy); her sister, Victoria R. Tagala (Romeo); her brother Isagani M. Tagala (Thelma); her grandchildren, Camille and Kyle Rabe; and her numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a hard worker and a wonderful student, Hermila earned top grades in primary and secondary school before earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. Using her nursing skills and her love for helping others, she worked at Tarlac Provincial Hospital, Christ Hospital, Chinese General Hospital, and the VA Hospital in New York City, where she retired from 1997.
Hermila was an active member of the Church of the Epiphany, serving as an usher and part of the Mother of Perpetual Help Committee. Besides her devotion to the church, she enjoyed to travel, whether it was to Atlantic City or to Prague and everywhere in between. Her outgoing and generous spirit will be missed among her family and friends.
May God bless her and guide her on her journey so that she may rest in eternal peace.
