Hazel A. Runnels

Hazel A. Runnels, 95, of Lakeland, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018. She was born on November 26, 1923 in Donaldsonville, GA, to the late William and Maria Anglin.

Hazel Runnels was a member of Kathleen Baptist Church since 1992.She loved her family and her God, and left a legacy of love for family and her church family. While at another church, she was a Sunday school teacher, church clerk, bible school director and worker. She and her husband drove the Sunday school bus from 1959 till 1977. She helped to organize the Girls Club that is now Girls Inc. in 1971 and worked there until she retired in 1987. At her church, she helped organize the Ladies of Grace widows group and served 3 years until she resigned due to bad health. She enjoyed attending meetings when she could. Hazel delighted in her class meetings and the senior citizens. She helped when she could and where she could.

Hazel is survived by her children, Shirley (Russ) Brown and Terry (Vickie) Runnels; brothers, Russell Anglin; sisters, Chris Robinson and Clyde Arnold; grandchildren, Lisa (James) Carnley, Terry Runnels, Jr., Patrick Howell, Todd Runnels, Edward Deuman, Evalena (Josh) Deuman, Shawn Brown, Lynette (Preston) Warren, Stephanie (Jimmie) Brown; 17 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, whom she loved all equally.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Lakeland Funeral Home. Visitation will
be held from 1:30 - 2:30 pm, service will begin at 2:30 pm.
