Geraldine S. Hampleman

Geraldine Mae (Smith) Hampleman of Lakeland, FL passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at her residence at the Florida Presbyterian Homes on June 11, 2021. Gerry was born on October 5, 1931, in Modesto, IL to her father James Smith and mother Helen Peak Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings James, Russel, Joseph, Esther, her much beloved husband Carroll, and one son Michael Alan Hampleman.

Gerry is survived by two sons, Daniel Hampleman of Wright, Wyoming and Douglas Hampleman (wife Nancy) of Lakeland, FL. and many nieces and nephews.

Gerry was married on August 20, 1955, to Carroll Hampleman. This was a double wedding ceremony in which Gerry’s brother Jim married Carroll’s sister Viva.

Throughout her married life, Gerry worked part time as a secretary while caring for 3 children and being the glue that kept the family together during moves following Carroll’s career to Illinois, Tennessee, Alabama, Kansas City, MO and then to Lakeland, FL in 1997, following her husband’s retirement.

Carroll and Gerry moved to the Florida Presbyterian Homes in February 2014 where they made many happy memories and were friends with everyone they met.

Memorial Service to be held July 26, 2021, at 2 pm, at Lakeland Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 2125 Bartow Road, Lakeland, FL 33801.

Light refreshments will follow immediately after the service at the funeral home.
