Gary Norby

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of the love of my life, best friend and husband, Gary Norby, married 50 years to Linda, and loving father to Paul Norby, Lakeland, and Christie Alston, Seffner, his nephew Justin Lonczak of Pearland, Texas, and many good neighbors and friends. Besides family Gary loved his Aussie Brandi and two Standard Poodles Lucy and Callahan.  Even though we have a small family we enjoy the friendship of our Poodle Family.  

He is preceded in death by his mother, Floy and father Jewell Norby and his brother Paul.  Following a five and a half month battle of Illness Gary Norby of Lakeland, Florida passed away at the age of 76 on May 30th.  He was a Lutheran.

Gary was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and traveled to many places with his Dad being in the military even living in Japan.  He graduated from Frederick College, Portsmouth, Va., received his Masters Degree at Rutgers University and served in the Navy.  He became a High School teacher and football coach in Virginia.  He then entered the FBI and his first assignment was in Albany, NY, where he met his wife.  Also, he was assigned as a Special Agent in Syracuse, NY; Philadelphia, Pa. and Lakeland, Florida where he retired in 1995.  Gary enjoyed boating, fishing, camping and traveling with family and friends.  He is a member of The Fraternal Order of the Police, “The Drifters” Antique Car Club, and The Inliners Car Club, and Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI.  He was a Boy Scout leader and an active Dad being a soccer coach, and attending all the Cross Country meets and family fishing, camping and crabbing trips.  

You may pay your respects at Lakeland Funeral Home,  2125 Bartow Road, Lakeland, Florida 33801 on June 17th 10 to 11 am - Visitation and Service at 11:00 am.

Gary will be buried at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at a later date.
