Fredrick Alton Sherlock, 83, a long time resident of Plant City, FL fell asleep in death on October 12, 2021 surrounded by family.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Sherlock; their children Lethea Johnson, Lynette Locher (her husband Kevin), Leora Claville (her husband Ben), Leon Sherlock (his wife Beth); five grandchildren and one great grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceeded in death by his parents, Earl Sherlock and Frances Sherlock McDowell; his siblings Richard Sherlock, Barbara Sherlock Campbell, Claude Sherlock; and two grandchildren.
A native of Ashtabula County, Fred was born on December 16, 1937 at home in Geneva, Ohio. He met Mary through family and mutual friends. Although they went to rival high schools, they fell in love and were married on Januaury 8, 1966. In the cold winter of 1974, he moved his family to Florida to be closer to his father and for better opportunities. Fred and Mary settled in Plant City, FL where they raised their 4 children and he lived until his death.
Fred enjoyed being outdoors. In highschool he played footaball and ran track. When he was young he also spent much time water skiing, snow skiiing and snowmobiling. Fred also loved gardening and growing flowers. His family will always remember his delicious pineapples and beautiful pulmeria flowers. Fred enjoyed watching the wildlife around his home. He even had a small fridge just to keep corn to feed the squirrels and birds.
Mary, their children and grandchildren take comfort in the Bible's hope of the future resurrection that Jesus promised (John 5:28,29). They eagerly look forward to being reunited with their husband, father, and grandfather on the beautiful paradise Earth soon to come, when God will wipe away all our tears and remove all pain and sorrow (Revelation 21:3,4).
