Florence V. Emme

Florence Vollmer Emme, 101, died peacefully on Nov. 5, 2021 surrounded by her three children, Stephen J. Emme of Odessa FL, Jilda E. Haroutunian (spouse Vahram (Harry)) Montvale, NJ and Nancy V. Emme (spouse Michael Montgomery) of Nashville, TN. Florence took great joy in her grand and great- grandchildren, Nicole Haroutunian (Daniel Selzer and Opal); Gregory Haroutunian (Jennifer and Kaylee, Lauren, Cameryn and Penelope Rose), and Ian P. Montgomery. Florence was born in Stillwater, MN and has lived the last 41 years in Lakeland. She started her career as a teacher in Minnesota teaching first through third grade in a one room schoolhouse. She married WWII Army Air Corp Sgt. Samuel P. Emme in 1943 and they celebrated more than fifty years of marriage prior to Sam’s death. She was a full time mother, but also sold real estate, served as an election and census worker, volunteered at the Bartow Public Library, enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Lakeland Garden Club. She hosted a 100th birthday celebration for family and friends that was attended by one of her former students. Florence’s remains will be buried next to her husband in Canastota, NY. No public services or visitation are planned
