Eleanor Marie Pugh

Eleanor Marie (Merrithew) Pugh passed away August 19, 2020 in Lakeland, Florida. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Pugh having celebrated 71 years of marriage.

Eleanor was born July 21, 1929 in Douglas, New Brunswick, Canada to William and Reta (McCoy) Merrithew. She was the only sister to five brothers, Earl, Stanley, George, Frederick and Edward. Through her marriage, she became the sister-in-law to Doris, Carson and Robin. She was also blessed with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Her married life took her from the little town of Douglas to Winnipeg, Manitoba to St. Petersburg, Florida which became their home for 43 years. She became a U.S. Citizen in 1962 and worked for Eckerd College for 35 years before retiring in 1994. Retirement led them to Citrus Woods in 1999 where they have lived happily ever after.

Eleanor’s cremated remains will be taken to Canada (at a date yet to be determined) and placed, surrounded by family at the Dayton Cemetery, Douglas, New Brunswick.
