Eddie J Burnham

Eddie Jarrett Burnham returned to his heavenly home on January 7, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with lung disease. He peacefully slipped away after a long night surrounded by two of his daughters, sons-in-law, and many of his grandchildren. Eddie, or Jarrett as he was known to his family, was born on December 7, 1939 to Willis Adrian Burnham and Edna Lucille Joiner Burnham, both of whom are deceased. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, “L. A.” Adrian Burnham (Linda) and “T.A.” Theron Anthony Burnham. He graduated from Lakeland High School in 1957. Soon after graduation he joined the Army and began a life of adventure. Over the next 21 years he was stationed in Hawaii, Massachusetts, Virginia, North Carolina, Japan, Turkey, Ethiopia, and Germany. He served for a year in Vietnam. On October 15, 1959, he married Cora Dee Powers, his former wife and the mother of his children, who preceded him in death. After his military retirement in 1978, he settled in his home state of Florida where he worked and retired from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Morgan, who he married on May 22, 1993, and one younger brother T. Keith Burnham (Regina). He is also survived by his daughters, Jarretta Mahalko (Dennis), Genny Frillman (Rick), Janet Walker (Jeff), and Hope Pilkenton (Randy). Additionally, he is survived by his 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. His grandchildren are Jarrett Brannen, Tanner Brannen, Parker Brannen, Logan Brannen (Jenae), Stetson Brannen, Grace Brannen, Hunter Brannen, Jennifer Elliott (Doug), James Chapman, Justin Render, Cody Render, Austin Walker, Aubrey Walker, Jamie Pilkenton, Clay Pilkenton, and Cameron Pilkenton. His great grandchildren are Riley Brannen, Saige Brannen, Adelaide Brannen, Calvin Brannen, Emelia Brannen, Jasmine Zulker, Noah Chapman, Jaedyn Pilkenton, and Edward Pilkenton.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Lakeland Memorial Gardens, 2125 US Highway 98 South, Lakeland at 1:00 p.m.
