Dorothy S. Walrath

Dorothy Sue “Dotty” Walrath, 99, passed away February 13, 2020 from complications from a fall. She was born February 1, 1921 in Birmingham, AL, and moved to Lakeland, FL in 1945. She spent her last few years in Tennessee living with, and then near, her daughter Mary.
Mrs. Walrath was Baptist. She is preceded in death by her husband Virgil Walrath; sons James NeSmith and Thomas NeSmith; daughter Linda Mitchell. She is survived by her daughters Ruth Sharpe (Bob) and Mary Deyo (Luther); her sister Mary Jones; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great- grandchildren.
Mrs. Walrath was a homemaker, her wisdom, good humor, patience and selfless love will be remembered by all with whom she associated. Her quiet dignity and her sweet southern hospitality were admired by those who loved her most and will influence them for the rest of their lives.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 S Bartow Rd., Lakeland, FL. Visitation at 10 AM and funeral at 11AM. Interment to follow in the Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
