Charles Peter Jones, age 86, passed away on December 18, 2021. He was born on December 9, 1935 in Manhattan, New York. He served as a radio operator in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
After which he moved to Tampa, Florida. "Captain Chuck" spent most of his life doing what he loved, cruising and racing his sailboat, "America".
He is survived by his two sons, Christopher Jones (Brooks) and Kevin Jones (Jennifer), his six grandchildren, Stephanie Jones, Jordan Jones, Holden Jones, Hunter Jones, Evan Jones and Justin Moses, one great-grandchild, Kinsley Moses, one brother, Peter Jones, three sisters, Audrey Scazafave, Lynn Garcia (Chino), and Denise Decker and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Marie, his daughter, Victoria Moses, his granddaughter, Jessica Jones, his parents, Madeline Decker and Charles Jones, two sisters, Maureen Cordano and Claudia Limon (David), two brothers, Gerald Jones and Greg Jones (Ursula).
Services will be held Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Lakeland Funeral Home. Visitation from 3-4 PM, service and Military honors will begin at 4 PM.
