Tribute

Charles Alan Dunn, age 70 went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 10th, 2020 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was born in Memphis, TN to Walter Leon Dunn Sr. and Helen Elizabeth (Brown) Dunn. He was a member of Cleveland Heights Baptist Church in Lakeland Florida where he served faithfully, taught the men’s Sunday school class and was a member of the choir and for solos. Alan always had a smile on his face, a constant sense of humor and a joyful heart. He was loved by his family, his church family, and friends and will be missed by everyone.

He graduated in 1968 from Westwood High School in Memphis, TN, and graduated from Baptist Christian College in Shreveport, LA in 1972 with a degree in Pastoral Theology & Evangelism. After graduation he became the pastor of Western Valley Baptist Church in Covington TN and in 1975 he moved to Lakeland, FL.

He was employed by G4S Security Service as a security guard at the Polk County Courthouse in Bartow. He was formerly employed by Wal-Mart Corporation and Fleetwing Corporation.

He is predecease by his Grandparents and his father Walter Leon Dunn Sr. Also by his brother Walter Leon Dunn Jr, who passed away June 28th, 2020. He was also predecease by his daughter Melissa Louise Dunn and his granddaughter Haleigh Elizabeth Henderson. He is survived by his mother Helen Elizabeth Dunn of Memphis, TN, and his wife Tricia Anne Dunn of Lakeland, his daughters Candace Elizabeth Dunn of Arlington, VA, Melinda Leigh Wilbur (Joshua) of Lakeland, his sons Matthew Alan Dunn (Kaitlin) of Lithia and Terry Michael Collier of Lakeland, his grandchildren, Anthony Michael Boycheck, Hayven Faith Certelli, Hadley Kaye Dunn and Brody Alan Dunn. He also had one nephew and one niece.

Alan had a passion for all kinds of sports and was an avid fan of The University of Tennessee Volunteers. He loved visiting Disney World with family and friends, talking with people and getting to know their stories and where they were from. He also enjoyed exploring, travel, and history.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday July 25, 2020 @2:00pm at Cleveland Heights Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Cleveland Heights Baptist Church at chbclakeland.com.
