Carol Ann Vonesh was born October 6th 1948 in Atlanta Georgia to Wade and Frances Creager.
Carol is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jack Vonesh, her daughters Stacey (Brent Geohagan) Vonesh and Carrie (Chris) Shills. Granddaughters Cara, Maci, Taylor, Emma and grandson Colleton. Brother Jerry (Linda) Creager, Sister Cindy (Paul) Horsley, Brother-in-law Rick (Ami) Vonesh, nephews Brandon Horsley, Ben and Mike Creager, and niece Sarah Adloo. Cousin Judy (Ashley) Hayes and numerous second cousins.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents Wade and Frances Creager, in laws Bob and Lois Vonesh, Aunt Ruth Burchell and cousin Bonnie Drew.
Carol graduated from North Fulton High school in 1967. She went on to graduate from Floyd Jr. College in Rome Georgia in 1980, with an AS in Nursing. Carol practiced nursing until 1994, when she started her business in decorative painting. She continued working until 2011, but her passion for all things artistic never stopped.
Carol was always an animal lover and advocate. She volunteered at The Mobile Alabama Animal Shelter, where she fostered and participated in many adoption events to find forever homes. Her nursing background was useful in attending the many injured and sick animals that often became foster failures.
Carol devoted the last 8 years founding and managing the Ovarian Cancer Support Group of Polk Co. She started this group upon moving to Lakeland after her diagnosis and finding no available support groups. It has grown to multiple annual events and fundraisers. Her accomplishments were endless and many lives continue to be impacted.
Carol will be greatly missed by many family members and friends.
Services will be November 18th at St Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 1820 CR 540A, Lakeland FL 33813. An 11am church service will be followed by a Celebration of Life at 12pm.
