Betty Wilson

Betty passed away peacefully into the Lord’s hands on April 8, 2022 surrounded by her family.
Loving wife to David for 68 years; mother to Pat, Donna (Craig) and Jeff (Marilyn); grandmother to Hillary (Jonathan), Heather, Jessica (Matt), Eric, Paul (Morgan), David, Kelly, Amanda (Louden), and Justin; great-grandmother to Noah, Sarah, Olivia, Leah, and Quinn.
Born in 1932 in Newton, North Carolina to Oscar and Gertrude Beard. She grew up on the family farm with her sisters, Evelyn (predeceased) and Barbara Jean. Her lifelong love of gardening started at an early age and she grew vegetables, lilies, and African violets everywhere she lived. David and Betty met in North Carolina and married in 1953. After David’s service in the Air Force, they moved briefly back to Charlotte and then settled in Florida where they raised their family and made many friends. An open, kind, and loving woman, Betty assisted others as a librarian and teacher’s aide as well as volunteering in neighborhood, community, and church activities. When they retired, they moved to Lakeland to be closer to family. She was a member of Hope Community Church and American Legion Auxiliary.
Viewing will be at 1 pm on April 15, 2022 with services to follow at 2 pm at the Lakeland Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
