Mrs. Betty Southouse Henry, 95 of Haynesworth Heights, Mulberry passed away on June 2, 2018 at Solaris Health Center in Plant City, FL.
Betty was born July 12, 1922 in Ilford, Essex, England. When she was 17 years old, WWII began in Europe. She became a nurse and cared for the sick and wounded during the numerous bombings and the “Battle of Britain”.
In 1942 she married Gordon Henry, a Royal Canadian Army artillery spotter. After the war she moved with him to Canada.
She and her family immigrated to the United States in 1949, and eventually settled in Mulberry. Betty once again entered the medical profession and served for thirty years as a nurse aide at Bartow Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Henry was preceded in death by her husband and her beloved half-brother, John Southouse. She is survived by four (4) children and their spouses. Gordon (Holly), Nathrop, CO, Robert (Susan), Bartow, FL, Virginia Godwin (Jimmy), Tellico Plains, TN, and Peter (Rosemary), Plant City, FL. She is also survived by eight (8) grandchildren, seven (7) great-grandchildren, and one (1) great great-grandchild.
