With his family at his side, Albert LeRoy Williams went to be with his Lord on June 3, 2019. Al was born in Wayne, Michigan on October 20, 1935.
Al entered the Air Force at 17 years old, met June the same year and they were married in 1957. They spent their first 20 years of marriage in Carver, MA, where they raised their four children. Al was a devoted firefighter on Otis Air Force Base; he also served as a volunteer on the hometown fire department.
He and June became over -the- road truckers for five years and it was on a job to Florida that they decided that is where they wanted to spend the rest of their lives. After enduring the cold Michigan and Massachusetts winters, he thoroughly enjoyed basking in the warm Florida sunshine, taking trips to Vero Beach, and being able to ride his Harley year-round.
Al retired from work at the juvenile detention center in Bartow, FL where “Pops” was respected and liked by the young men with whom he worked. He and June celebrated their 50th anniversary by renewing their wedding vows and embarking on a cruise to Alaska where Al enjoyed more of God’s amazing creations, especially the eagles.
Al’s many interest and passions included: his God and his country, all things patriotic, family and friends, horses, motorcycles, eagles and working with wild life, his pug Otis and Squanto, his white “poochy-cat”.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, June Williams of Lakeland; daughter Toni Lee and son-in-law Mark Aiduk of Wareham, MA; son Albert Williams II of Gettysburg, PA; son Carl Williams and daughter-in-law Deanna of Lakeland, FL; daughter Beverly and son-in-law John Gonzalez of Lakeland, FL; eight loving grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Our family chain is missing an important link- he is missed.
Funeral services will be held at Lakeland Funeral Home on Saturday June 8, 2019. Visitation from 1:30-2:30 PM, service at 2:30.
