Elsie A. Parrella Kirk, 87 of Lakeland, Florida, passed away September 19, 2020 after a long battle with Alzhiemer's disease. She was born February 27, 1933 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Martin and Angelina Parrella and lived there for over 60 years before moving to Florida with her husband James. She has been a resident of Lakeland, Florida for the last 22 years.
Elsie taught evening sewing classes at Bullard-Havens Technical High School for numerous years. She was known for her excellence in sewing, and her patience and commitment to her students. She also, worked as a seamstress at St. Joseph's Manor in Trumbull, Connecticut for over 20 years. Elsie was the family seamstress, often making clothes for her children. She made prom dresses for her daughters, and gowns for the bridal party at her son's wedding. One year she worked so hard to make uniforms for all the members of her daughter and son's drum and bugle corp, the Trumbull Cadets.
In Lakeland she belonged to her community sewing group where she devoted her time to making school uniforms for children in need. She loved her life at Cypress Lakes enjoying her friends, the pool, parties and dancing. Elsie loved her yearly trips to Anna Maria Island with her daughters.
She shared her love of italian cooking with her family and friends making her specialties, eggplant, lasagne, manicotti, and delicious sandwiches. Always feeding anyone who walked through her door. She lived her life loving her family, sharing her patient kind ways as a mother, wife, teacher and friend. To us, she was a special soul who's presence will be missed forever.
Elsie is survived by her husband James Kirk of Lakeland Florida, her son Michael Zanchetti, daughters Lisa Zanchetti and Linda Zanchetti and sister Anna Demas. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grand children. She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers and five sisters.
In a private ceremony, Elsie's ashes will be spread in the Gulf of Mexico off Anna Maria Island.
In lieu of flowers donations in her honor can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
