Vivian Gretchen Daniel
Vivian Daniel, age 85, of Lakeland, Florida died February 10, 2018. Funeral services will be held at Coffey Funeral Home in Harrogate, Tennessee and her burial will be at the Forge Ridge Cemetery by her beloved husband, John.
Born October 18, 1932, in Harrogate, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Artie (Ellison) Ray. She married John Floyd Daniel on December 18, 1953 in Monroe, Michigan.
A 1949 graduate of Forge Ridge high school, she continued her education in business in Nashville, Tennessee and worked for an insurance company for thirty-one years. She retired in 1987.
Vivian loved Southern Gospel music. In Monroe she sang alto with “The Happy Way Quartet”. When she and John settled in Indianapolis, Indiana following John’s US Air Force commitment, she and John sang with their friends Charles and Bernadean Wells in the “Gospel Way Quartet”. They were all members of Marwood Baptist Church. Gospel music was their love and John recorded a lot of their music that has served as fond memories for them all.
After moving to Florida, they sang with “The Senior Adult Choir” for a few years at First Baptist Church, Lakeland.
Surviving are the two sons, Jeffery Floyd and Gregory Stephen, two daughter-in-laws, Katie and Sharon, two grandsons, Eric and Bronson, and two step-grandchildren, Dean and Danielle.
Four sisters also survive: Elizabeth Lester of Monroe, Michigan; Christine Crockett of Harrogate, Tennessee; Louise Lambert of Bristol, Tennessee; and Lucille Ramsey of Cookeville, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Sewell, Oran and Homer, and a sister Mamie Woods.
