Larry Edwin Worcester

Larry Edwin Worcester, 79, of Lakeland, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018. He was born on April 11,1938 in Salem, WV to the late Edwin and Evelyn Worcester. Larry served in the US Navy from Nov. 1956 - Nov. 1960. He then served in the US Navy Reserve from Nov. 1960 - Nov. 1962. After his service in the Navy, he joined the WV Army National Guard in Jan. 1974 and retired in May of 1992. While serving in the Army National Guard, he was deployed to Honduras for 7 months. He retired from the National Guard after 24 years of combined service in the U.S. Armed Forces. On May 11, 1963, Larry married the love of his life Delores Ruth Grove. They resided in FL and WV throughout their marriage. Larry worked as a maintenance supervisor for many years at United Hospital Center. He and Delores were members of Centennial Squares of Clarksburg; a square dancing group. Most of all, Larry loved his family. He is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Delores Worcester; daughter, Leslie Benson and her significant other John Harding; daughter, Wendy Goff and husband Nathanial Goff; grandchildren, Emily Benson, Dakota Murray and Mykaela Murray.
Larry is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Worcester.
A celebration of life will be held at Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 Bartow Rd., Lakeland, FL on January 18, 2018 at 6 p.m.
