Heaven has gained a new angel

John James Leonard, 87, of Davenport, FL passed away on Tuesday November 14, 2017, after complications from a heart attack.
Born in Garden City Park, NY on May 13, 1930, he was the youngest of 12 children. He worked in construction his whole life. Helping build Levittown, NY then following Levitt & sons to Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Bowie, MD where he lived for 38 years. He retired from his own concrete business and moved in March of 2005, to Davenport, Florida.
His hobbies included bowling, golfing, projects around the house, and travel. Cooking turned into a passion for him. He enjoyed cooking for family and friends and loved that they always raved about it. He amazed everyone with his strength and stamina. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was married to the love of his life, Rosemarie, for 66 years. She preceded him in death just six months prior. He was a loving father to 4 children, Toni Leonard Taylor (Jack), Donna Leonard Luddy (Tom), John Leonard (Claire) and Patricia Leonard.
Doting and always instigating his 2 grandsons and 6 granddaughters and carrying on the tradition with his 9 great-grandsons and 4 great-granddaughters and one great-great-granddaughter.
A viewing will be held at Saint Ann Catholic Church, Haines City, FL November 20, 2017, from 10 to 12 with a mass following.
Entombment will follow at Lakeland Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens immediately following the mass.
